Position Summary
The carrier sales representative is responsible for sourcing and procuring carrier services, covering the loads. They will work to leverage key carrier relationships to cover freight quickly and at a market competitive rate. They will work to provide top notch service to our clients and communicate with sales executives on issues with loads in a timely manner.
The carrier sales representative helps satisfy the customer’s needs by booking directly with carriers. They are extremely vital to the organization because they help us keep our promises to our customers.
Top 5 tasks & responsibilities:
1. Develop carrier relationships to effectively support our customers’ freight needs.
2. Continual sourcing of new carrier partners, maximizing core carrier usage on loads assigned.
3. Negotiate spot and contract rates as directed.
4. Effectively communicate with coworkers to solve problems proactively and in a timely manner.
5. Negotiate extra charges with carriers.
6. Ad-hoc assignments.
